The only weekends I can't do, as far as I know, would be: July 20 is Jared's birthday, so that weekend wouldn't work that well August 15-17 I'll be in LA, so, that wouldn't work for me.
I vote for some HL2 mods personally. We have never played any HL2 stuff. Orange box is so cheap. TF2 is a lotta fun if we have enough people.
I should be able to make it July 25-27, but my work schedule is so up in the air I can't ever be sure when I'm going to be in town. They wanted me to go to Orlando for 2 weeks on wed, and they told me tuesday night. Luckily someone else filled in.
Oh and there should definately be DDR. No guitar hero though... I that game makes me car sick. Watching the notes come across the frets makes me feel like I'm stuck in the backseat of a car.
weird, i get motion sick during games sometimes, mostly FPSes, but never during guitar hero or rock band. guitar hero does make my vision go weird. if i'm playing for a long time and look away from the screen everything looks like it's being pushed away from me or spread apart. last one i went to had a good bit of WoW and since i am completely off of it it got pretty boring. I don't get why people can't put off raiding and stuff for one weekend! i don't know how into WoW people still are these days though. I have HL2 and I'd be down for mods. i only have TF2 right now, don't know of any other good ones. I would like to play a strategy game once or twice, like dawn of war or company of heroes, but other people never seem too excited about them. are there any newish games out we could try?
We have a separate upstairs bonus room with the TV that will be away from the computer playing. So if someone brings DDR we can find a way to move the couch. Jason V. (or someone) should bring a Wii too! But here is your warning: Upstairs gets hot, so expect to work off some sweat if you do DDR. Bring a bathing suit. :o)
HL2 sounds good, although I'll need to go buy it. I guess we can give a little advance warning and get some RTS in - my biggest complaint is the half-hour install process for some of those games, that's nuts.
My video card is rather crappy. I'm still rocking the 9600se, so I can play most games, but a lot of the newer stuff runs like garbage. As far as HL mods go, the Golden eye mod is amazing. Tf2 is amazing. I havn't tried too many others. Of course there is always portal+ hl2 mod hacks, which look fun as hell.
I'm always down for rts. I suck at everything except dota.
As far as I know, me and shauna are the only ones that seriously play wow now. Hey look, my password still works! I have the orange box, and I could get it for shauna if need be (though she doesn't generally enjoy FPS's).
Also, unrelated to LAN news, did you guys see the Diablo 3 announcement?
Heck yeah Bejean, and the gameplay videos look amazing. I can't wait for SC2 and Diablo3, they're gonna rock!
As far as games go, I could probably pick up the orange box, though I don't have it now. I did just recently pick up UT3, which is pretty awesome. And of course there's good ol' DotA :D
But I'd be down for some new stuff too. So long as it doesn't take a million years to install.
Oh, and the interview went very well, I was offered the position. It's a 3 month training internship and if they're happy with my performance I'll be rolled into a full-time Lighting TD.
I'm usually slower on picking up new games so I tend to get a little bored if I fall behind. However, this awesome thread will give me some time to get them installed and get the feel for a few of them so we can have more of a variety at the upcoming lan.
I was thinking about bringing chocolate cookies with macadamia nuts and white chocolate chunks. We can also bring the Laptop for anyone who can't easily bring their computer. Its probably not ideal for every game but it is what it is.
Do you care if I bring a sleeping bag and crash? I really don't want to have to drive 40 minutes home and back. Also... I'll probably bring my bike and play around at Blankets Creek up there.
I wonder if battlefield heroes will be released by then. Also I really really enjoy playing company of heroes, but not sure if you guys liked it or not. I'm pretty sure brian liked it, but i don't know about anyone else. might be fun to play when it gets later and some of the haters have gone. I have CoD4 and rainbow six vegas 2 downloaded too, but haven't installed them so don't know how well they work cracked, but if anyone has any interest in them i can check them out.
I'm interested in playing at least one good FPS, be it UT3 or orange box or CoD4 (grrr) or whatever. I'd like to get the games that we want to play worked out a little in advance. Chris might be coming, and there's no telling what hoops we'll need to jump through to get the games installed on his laptop.
i have the orange box. Don't have UT3 or CoD4 retail though, and not sure how well they work/if they work cracked. Is normal HL2 fun multiplayer or should we get some mods? and if so does anyone know of any good ones? TF2 is always fun though and we can play that online if people actually own the orange box, if we don't have enough people for a fun match with just the LANers.
I am downloading those two HL2 mods and another one, Zombie Panic, now. so if we want to try them out i'll have the installs and i'll try to give them a whirl to see if they are any good. the list of games I want to play are:
Orange Box: TF2/HL2 mods Dawn of War or Company of Heroes for some fun times RTS action DotA and maybe battlefield heroes if it's out by then
there's gotta be more out by now. i don't remember ever playing it though so i have no idea how many maps there were, but yeah, it came out a few years ago.
okay, i installed it and played it. there are only 5 dm maps, tons of duel maps but i guess those are 1v1 ones that you take turns on, and like 3 siege maps. i remember playing this one now. it could still be fun though. i love me some force powers mixed with my guns.
for UT3 because it looks silly. I also have the community pack, latest patch, and the developer bonus map pack if you guys don't want to waste your bandwidth getting them. there was a jedi knight: jedi academy map pack i found too from the developers that adds like 8 maps.
This will be a cheap knockoff - no halfpipe, solid tables, and reasonably comfortable seating.
Ian, I'd like to get the stuff you've downloaded before the party starts sometime to a) get it loaded on my machine(s) and b) get it loaded possibly on chris' machine, if he is coming. I'll let you know.
Cool. I'm easy. I'll prolly just grab a spot on the floor or on a couch. I always travel with towel too (thanks douglas adams). The benefit being that if I crash there I can get a few laps in at Blankets Creek before the next gaming sessions takes off.
Should we bring chairs? Tables? I left my old card table at the old house we had them in, so I have no idea where it lies, but lemmy know I can carry stuff via the truck.
Who drinks? I certainly don't. I mean an Irish-Catholic who drinks... who's heard of such nonsense. I'm good for a 12 pack :D I might bring wine too if anyone else likes wine, but I hate having to kill a bottle by myself... not that I won't. (2 buck chuck ftw)
